Marie-Athena is an international environmental lawyer and non-practicing Barrister, based in Switzerland, UK and Greece.
 

Educated in France and UK, she holds a Doctorate degree in International Comparative law from the University of Paris II Sorbonne as well as a LL.M and JD in International Environmental Law and Policy from the London School of Economics. She was Research Fellow in Marine Environmental Law focusing on marine pollution issues. 
 

She has strong experience as Counsel in Shipping, Infrastructure and Clean Energy in the UK, Europe and Greece.  She has gained significant experience and expertise in renewable energy as General Counsel EMEA for a major global Energy corporation and has also developed solar and waste management projects across Europe.  Currently working in the development of energy sustainability solutions, Marie-Athena combines her knowledge and interests in environmental sustainability and Energy Prosperity with originating and progressing Clean Tech Ventures focused on accelerating the energy transition and advancing decarbonization. 
 
She currently acts as adviser to family offices and foundations on Environmental Governance / Sustainable Investments and is a Trustee and Board member of several influential organisations, including Client Earth, an international Environmental Law and Advocacy charity and Blue Marine Foundation, UK.

 

Marie Athena has been supporting Conservation Initiatives for many years and has more recently focused on raising awareness on plastic pollution, on the need for sustainable waste management and then urgency to prevent building encroachment on Protected Areas.
